J–tax–S was founded by Jeri Beth Dettinger in 2005. One of the main reasons she wanted to start the business was to offer professional services for affordable prices. Jeri is an Enrolled Agent and reviews the returns before they are sent. The status of an Enrolled Agent is the highest credential the IRS awards. Individuals who obtain this elite status must adhere to ethical standards and are the only tax practitioners who specialize in taxation and also have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. Our clients rest easy knowing their returns are in qualified hands. Our biggest business comes from our individual tax preparation services. Our prices start at $150 for individual, that includes federal, state, and local with free E-Filing!
We thrive on taking the stress out of taxes by providing a “homey” relaxed environment. You will usually find us in jeans and a t-shirts without shoes and having lots of laughs. We are kid friendly and offer coloring pages to help entertain the children while we serve their parent’s tax needs. There is also a TV with Netflix to entertain the kids of all ages.
Even with our firm’s lack of advertising, we grew large enough to require a larger location. We started out in the Village Square Shopping Center in Jacobus, from there moved our location to Dallastown in 2014. Once again we out grew that location and expanded our notary side of the business and purchased a new building in Red Lion in October 2020. We credit this growth to our loyal client base and their continuous referrals. We have worked hard to get where we are today. We are truly blessed, we thank all of our valuable clients for getting us here.
You are welcome to call or just stop in and talk with one of our staff members before making any commitments. We also offer a “Drop Off Service” which allows clients to drop off the year’s tax information for us to complete, once prepared we will call so that the return can be picked up. We also offer clients to mail their information to us or to send it thru a secure portal.
