Jeri Beth Dettinger, EA:
Jeri is the founder of J-tax-S. Jeri is also an Enrolled Agent(EA). She passed her EA exam in 2004. She is a member of NAEA, NATP and PSEA. Prior to earning her EA so worked for a national tax firm for 5 years. After becoming an EA she worked for two years for a CPA. She then decided it was time to start her own business which had been her dream all along. She just wanted to make sure she had enough experience to offer quality services.
Growing up in Dallastown, both Jeri’s father and grandfather owned businesses where she got hands-on experience learning bookkeeping, customer service, and how to run a successful business. Before starting J-tax-S, Jeri continued learning and advancing herself through different jobs. Overall, she worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses and did payroll for several other companies. Over the years, Jeri has accumulated firsthand knowledge in small business areas such as construction, auto sales & repair, small retail specialty stores (IE- craft, musical instruments, appliances, carpeting, etc), direct sales, and service businesses. This wealth of knowledge proves to be an invaluable resource to many who need advice on record keeping, business planning and structure, etc.
Since starting in 2005, Jeri has had to add several more staff members in order to better serve clients. Everyone still reports back to Jeri and she reviews the returns prior to them leaving the office.

Caity is Jeri’s daughter, she grew up in the office while being homeschooled. Many of our clients have seen her grow up and are excited to see her each tax season. In 2012 she became the office manager. She helps with data entry and receptionist duties as needed. She recently became a Notary so she can help with DMV and notary work. She is actively involved in community theater at Theatre Arts for Everyone (TAFE) and DreamWrights, so you may see her in performances at either of these theatres from time to time, although she is mostly involved behind the scenes.
Jess started with us during tax season of 2018 as a receptionist. She then stepped up to become our Bookkeeper after our previous bookkeeper moved on. She also assists with data entry and is learning to become a tax preparer. Jess has been a bookkeeper for her family’s business for over 16 years. Prior to that she was a bank teller at Allfirst/York Bank in Cape Horn. Jess is the mother to 4 children and 2 step children and now has 2 grandchildren. She is very busy with her family, the family business, and her work with us.
Michele started with us in 2019 as a receptionist. When things started getting busy she stepped up and asked to be trained as a data entry clerk. She really enjoyed that and has requested to be trained as a tax preparer so that for next year she can complete the entire return and sign them herself. We will start training her over the summer this year and if she does well, she will be a new preparer for our company.
